Reliability

Engineering.

We study the behaviour of materials, components, and systems in certain states and time periods.

Reliability Engineering.

One of the main activities for Il Sentiero International Campus is the study of Reliability , understood as the ability of a system or component to perform the required function. This ability is time related and dependent on environmental, mechanical and chemical conditions, in addition to the intrinsic characteristics of the system.
Evaluating and validating the performance of the system or component by means of standard and accelerated tests, allows users to replicate the damage in the field (failure) in order to identify the cause, determine the useful life time in a probabilistic manner, study alternative materials, detect and correct design aspects, obtain scientific data for maintenance planning and make technical and economic evaluations on alternative solutions. In most cases the study is carried out by means of experimental campaigns (often supported by FEM/CFD simulations) carried out on test benches: the latter are designed and built ad hoc by the Engineering Team for the system/component under analysis and are able to reproduce both the industrial environment and complete and transitory operating conditions. In this way it is possible to identify malfunctions and possible causes, validate new materials and new concept designs.

The experience gained in this area has allowed Il Sentiero International Campus to establish national and international collaborations, recognising us as a strategic partner.
